The day was the best Bengali Durga Puja Chaturthi. The Board issued a notification for the recruitment of Primary Teachers. Then, from October 21 to November 14, the application process for Primary TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) recruitment is online. However, the application deadline is extended by another 7 days. Then, on December 11, 2023, the Primary TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) exam. Even, on December 27, the aspirants gave the first stage interview.

In 2009, the examination was conducted for the recruitment of 1834 vacancies for primary teachers in South 24 Parganas. However, only 1506 names were on the merit list! But, the remaining 328 vacant posts have not been filled, the vacancies remain. Not only to fill the vacancies, but the High Court also ordered the appointment of 5 percent more i.e. 92 more people.

A number of aspirants who passed the TET in 2017 have filed a case in the High Court against the decision to give a chance to those who 2017 Primary TET passed candidates in the initial recruitment. They said that during the initial recruitment in 2016 and 2017, the incumbents were not given opportunities. If given a chance this time, the competition will increase. They demanded that only those who have passed the 2017 Primary TET should be recruited.

It is for these reasons that Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay has issued a temporary stay on the initial recruitment process.
